MELAMINE Melamine faced board is actually a fantastic product and even those with experience sometimes have to get up close to tell that a wood effect finish is not in fact a real wood veneer. The great advantage of melamine is that it offers an extremely realistic and cost effective alternative to real wood veneers, with the added bonus that matching is not an issue even after a period of time has elapsed. We are great melamine fans and of course there are all the colour options as well.

REAL WOOD VENEER Still perceived as the ultimate choice if budget allows and the standard choice for walk-through doors due to their construction. The variation that is part of the appeal of a natural product is also one of its weaknesses as sometimes there can be an objection to the “wildness” of a particular grain. Also if a panel becomes damaged for whatever reason, then the replacement is likely to be different. Any further installations at a later stage will almost certainly be quite different in colour as real wood veneers mellow and change colour with the passage of time and exposure to the light. Available for special projects, real wood veneers add approximately 40% to the cost of a typical installation and may also involve a longer lead-time.
